Day 5 - Repo Men

Redbox - you win some, you loose some. I thought having two great actors - Forest Whitaker and Jude Law - would make a great movie. Instead, it was a mediocre movie that I wouldn't recommend to anyone who's squeamish about blood...cause there's a lot! The storyline was interesting to think about - selling people metal organs that can keep them alive when they're real life organs fail. Too bad human selfishness and greed gets in the way of that brilliant idea. The movie's soundtrack is bad ass! Nina Simone, Beck, RZA, Method Man, Rosemary Clooney, and Toots & the Maytals. Rating - There's probably a video game version and it's probably better than the film.

  1. Good movie as I understand it's not for everyone as most people like brainless movies that make COMPLETE sense and hold their hands throughout the entire movie and tell them what to think. Especially the ending. Most people don't like a movie for the simple fact that the ending isn't happily ever after. But you know what? That's real life. Most people live horrible lives. This is a bit of a thinker and definitely promotes a bit of good discussion afterwards. You want another movie that's a discussion movie AND doesn't have a "happily ever after" ending? The Box is surprisingly good.

  2. Oh yes, the Box is good in the sense that I hated it and wanted to talk about why I hated it for awhile after the credits rolled. At first I thought the movie was going somewhere, as if it had a point. But, then nothing. No point other than human beings are messed up people. I really didn't need to sit through 2 hours to come to that conclusion. At least Cameron Diaz acted well and James Marsden decided to act in a non-romantic comedy for once. But, I expected more from the man who wrote and directed Donnie Darko.
